Naval Commander Northern France reports to Admiral France, Group West and Naval High Command (Naval Staff):
On the afternoon of 30 June, Luftwaffe Captain Liebe-Pieteritz made a surprise landing on Guernsey. Following the landing of further aircraft on 30 June and likewise on Jersey on 1 July, the Naval Assault Detachment and subsequently Army detachments and light anti-aircraft artillery were landed on both islands by air transport. The islands were occupied without resistance, and the harbours taken over by harbour surveillance personnel. Alderney, initially taken by the Luftwaffe, will also be occupied by the Navy on 2 July.
