[Scan 1241.jpg] Undated handwritten working sheet, with extensive shorthand and several unclear readings. Command: Colonel Count Schmettow, headquarters, radio detachment; one artillery regimental headquarters for special employment in the area. Subordinate to Army Group D [reading uncertain].

Jersey: at present, Antitank Battalion 652 [number uncertain], antitank battalion, one rifle company of Regiment 216; ultimately one reinforced infantry battalion. Naval protection: naval high command. Antiaircraft: none. Artillery includes four French field guns (two ready to fire, remaining wording damaged), four French light field howitzers, Artillery Regiment 271, and projected one light and one heavy field-howitzer battery. Remarks refer to ammunition or supply being absent and a French hospital; their full wording cannot be read confidently.

Guernsey: at present Machine-Gun Battalion 16, three heavy machine-gun companies, one engineer company [parenthetical note unclear], one antitank company, one rifle company of Regiment 216; ultimately one reinforced infantry battalion. Naval protection indicated; antiaircraft, none. Four French field guns, an engineer platoon, four French light field howitzers, Artillery Regiment 216, and projected one light and one heavy field-howitzer battery. Bottom note concerns a four-hour crossing, harbour obstructions and coastal protection; several words are illegible. [The original is embedded because a complete reliable reading of this shorthand sheet is not possible.]
