Jersey WW2 Research is the dedicated research arm of Jersey War Tours (JWT), a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation founded by Phil and Kimberley to research, document and preserve Jersey’s Second World War heritage.
Funded through the proceeds of our public tours, bunker open days and generous donations, this website aims to provide a growing collection of freely accessible historical resources for anyone interested in Jersey’s wartime history. Whether you are planning a visit to the island, exploring its German fortifications or undertaking more detailed historical research, our aim is to make Jersey’s remarkable Second World War heritage easier to discover, understand and explore.
At the heart of our work is our ongoing Occupation Diaries Project, an ambitious research initiative bringing together German, Allied and civilian wartime records into a single, searchable historical resource. By locating, transcribing, translating and cross-referencing original documents, we are building a detailed chronological account of events in Jersey and the wider Channel Islands throughout the German Occupation. Much of this material has never previously been available together in English, offering new opportunities to explore and better understand the island's wartime history.
Alongside this project, we continue to document surviving fortifications through historical photographs, original research, interactive maps and detailed 3D scans, helping to preserve a digital record of sites for future generations. We also work closely with our partners at the Channel Islands Occupation Society (CIOS) to support public access to historic bunkers and raise awareness of their ongoing preservation.
Our mission is simple: to make Jersey’s Second World War history accessible to everyone, while preserving its stories, documents and physical remains for future generations.
